York
There is so much to see and do in York that you’ll absolutely love exploring this historic city!
Visit York Minster, which sits in the middle of the city and can trace its history back to the year 627 when the first wooden church stood on the site. Today, it’s now the largest medieval cathedral still standing in Northern Europe – that alone is worth the trip for true history enthusiasts!
Don’t miss the Jorvik Viking Centre for a fabulous and interactive attraction, where you can walk through history and learn more about the Vikings in a fun new way. Ideal for adults and children alike, discover more when you visit this fantastic cultural centre, just a short drive away from Kilnwick Percy Resort.
Other attractions in the city, which are must-see, include the fantastic National Railway Museum and York Dungeon, where you will meet famous faces from York’s history.
Things to do in York at night
Theatre-goers will be sure to be interested in the shows and live performances at York Theatre Royal, which hosts West End Shows as well as touring vocalists and comedians.
York has a number of comedy clubs just waiting to be the highlight of your trip, including The Basement, which is home to the local renowned Wozzon Comedy Club, and also The Monkbar Hotel, which is home to the Burning Duck Comedy Club – a true local favorite!
Visit the sea and the city
Bridlington makes a fantastic family day out, offering something for everyone. Head to RSPB Bempton Cliffs for breathtaking sea views and the chance to spot an incredible array of coastal birds — including the charming and colourful puffins that steal the show every summer.
You’re also just a short drive from Scarborough, a vibrant seaside town packed with activities. Beyond its iconic beaches, you’ll find Scarborough Castle perched dramatically above the coast, and The Scarborough Fair Collection, home to vintage cars, steam engines, and traditional fairground rides.
For a quieter coastal escape, visit Filey, a charming seaside town with a friendly community feel. Try your hand at exhilarating water sports on Filey Beach, or enjoy a peaceful wander through the beautiful Crescent Gardens — the perfect spot to unwind with stunning sea views.
